Dedicated to the turn of the year

With the special "A Night on Earth" series, the Macallan Distillery is focussing on the turn of the year. The "The Journey" edition that has now been released is already the second bottling.

The whisky is a balanced marriage of first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks. The Macallan A Night on Earth - The Journey was bottled at 43% vol.

The first Macallan A Night on Earth was subtitled "In Scotland" and was specially focussing on Scotland's Hogmanay. The new Macallan The Journey is now dedicated to all the people who set off for the New Year to get together with people to celebrate, look back or make plans for the future.

Macallan works with renowned artists to design the labels and packaging. For the first edition, Erica Dorn combined the colours red (for the fire of the coals, which are traditionally carried into the house on the first crossing of a threshold on Scottish Hogmanay) and blue (for the colour of the saltire, the Scottish flag).

Similar basic colours can also be found in the design by Chinese artist Nini Sum for The Journey, but they are complemented by bright colour reflections. The depicted motifs also reflect the different environments in which people come together at the turn of the year. Urban architecture on the one hand, idyllic landscapes on the other.
