Bowmore 29 Years Old: A Timeless Edition from Sherry and Bourbon Casks

With the limited editions of the Timeless Series, Bowmore presents exceptional and rare whiskies. Only 3000 bottles of the new Bowmore Timeless Series 29 Years Old are available worldwide.

Complex flavours from sherry and bourbon casks

It is a combination of sherry and bourbon casks that gives the whisky complexity and a deep spectrum of flavours. The casks date from the production years 1991 and 1992 and were stored in the No. 1 Vaults, the historic warehouse of the Islay distillery, which is reserved for special casks only. The single malt whisky was bottled at 53.7% ABV.

In a press release, Bowmore promises aromas of dark fruits, muscovado sugar, cocoa nibs, bitter orange marmalade, Christmas spices and a hint of menthol, rounded off by complex notes of cherry blossom, maraschino cherries, liquorice and delicate citrus fruits when opening the Bowmore Timeless Series 29 Years Old. Then on the palate, nuances of warming peat, fruitcake and cocoa, complemented by a touch of sea salt. Peat and salt linger in the long finish.

Collaboration with Hania Rani

To present the Timeless Edition, Bowmore collaborated with pianist and composer Hania Rani, who was inspired by the landscape, history and world of Bowmore during a visit to the Isle of Islay to compose the musical piece "The Boat".

“Nature is central to my inspiration and being on Islay really amplified my own sense of natural connection. There is something about Bowmore because it comes from Islay, rooted in the land shaped by nature, which perfectly represents 'The Boat'. Listening to the song, you are transported to another place as you forget about the passage of time and become immersed in the moment,” says Hania Rani of her experience on Islay.
