LADYBANK RE-OPENS EXCLUSIVE MEMBERSHIP LIST

Printable version (Microsoft Doc).

The Ladybank Company of Distillers Club ("Ladybank"), Scotland's first and only 'private club' distillery, is today re-opening its exclusive membership list to allow 250 more members to join.  A one-off membership fee of just £3,250 will entitle members to six bottles of the world's finest single malt whisky a year for 50 years, potentially worth £30,000 or more when fully matured.

Ladybank, based in Fife, was launched by James Thomson, a whisky investment expert, and successfully attracted over 300 members from 30 countries worldwide, raising enough money to fund the first phase of the project.  The money raised from these new memberships will pay for the remaining construction work and the purchase and installation of the distillery equipment.

Commenting on the current membership drive, Mr Thomson said: "Essentially we are offering discerning investors the 'ultimate whisky future' and will also provide them with all the benefits of owning a distillery without the hassle of running it. The membership is strictly limited, with only 50 more memberships available at the current price.  Members who join later will not only have to pay more, but will also have to pay annual fees which the next 50 members will avoid.  In any event, we will not allow more than 1,250 members worldwide when we eventually close the list for good."

Ladybank has now finalised the planning and design preliminaries so that the new membership monies will fund the purchase and installation of the actual distillery equipment.

The Ladybank Club will control the assets of the distillery while its members will benefit from the different rare whiskies produced and will be guaranteed a specified allocation of 300 bottles over 50 years[, with a maximum of 12 a year]. The distillery will include a private members' tasting room and dining room and will hold whisky making classes for those interested in learning more.

Current membership prices for the UK, Europe and worldwide are £3,250, EUR3,950 and US$4,750 respectively.

NOTE TO EDITORS

The Ladybank Company of Distillers Club

The Ladybank Company of Distillers Club is the first members-only distillery club, financed by membership fees and independent from all other whisky producers.  The facilities will be home to the production plant, which is set to be the smallest in the Scotch Whisky industry.  A production capacity of approximately 35,000 litres p.a. is in contrast to the bigger producers' more common capacity of 1 million litres, and the small capacity will allow the focus to shift from yield to quality. Working with the industry's best chemical analysts will produce some of the world's best whisky.

The club's legal constitution allows each member to transfer (sell) his membership through the club's waiting list.  Members may also pass on membership to future generations of their families.

Membership of The Ladybank Company of Distillers Club is limited to 1,250 members.  Three hundred memberships have been sold and 250 are currently available for purchase in this second phase.

Whisky expert Harry Riffkin of specialist analytical chemists Tatlock & Thomson created recipes for the unique Ladybank range of single-malts to reflect the character and individuality of the brand.  Using only the finest ingredients and combining the latest technology in whisky production with bygone craft traditions, the Ladybank whiskies will be of unparalleled quality and display flavours that can only be developed through the extra care and time taken in this process.  Tatlock & Thomson has been advising the Scotch whisky industry since 1891. In 1993 the firm moved from Glasgow to Fife, and now advises distillers on raw material selection, yeasts, fermentation procedures, and the acquisition of oak wood for whisky maturation.

PRIVATE WHISKY CLUB RELEASES NEW MEMBERSHIPS
Eagerly anticipated second round of memberships made available

Printable version (Microsoft Doc).

Ladybank, the prestigious private Scottish whisky distillery club, has launched its second-phase membership scheme, giving 250 more investors the chance to own a share in an exciting new Scottish distillery. Ladybank members will not only have exclusive access to a new premium single malt, they will also have the luxury of an uncrowded sanctuary at Ladybank headquarters in the heart of the historic Kingdom of Fife. Ladybank’s first round of investment attracted 300 members from around the world.

The exclusive club, the first of its kind in the world, will be located near the village of Ladybank, close to St Andrews in Fife. It offers a capped membership of 1,250 investors the chance to own part of a craft-scale whisky distillery, which promises to produce the finest single malt whisky in Scotland. The whisky, exclusively available to members and their friends, will be produced in intentionally small amounts to guarantee its rarity and value.

Three hundred vetted members from 30 countries snapped up the first round of memberships, entitling them to receive the equivalent of six bottles a year from each vintage over the first 50 years of production. The limited production offers an excellent potential return on investment. In addition, members will receive other privileges such as access to commemorative and limited edition bottlings, witnessing and assisting in the entire whisky-making process and use of the club’s private dining facilities and function rooms.

The entrepreneurial founder of Ladybank, James Thomson, spent many years in whisky marketing for top Scottish brands before starting the project.

“The second round of memberships heralds an exciting phase in Ladybank’s development,” says Thomson. “Our members appreciate the value of the project because they are investing in a shared passion. Our aim is not only to produce the finest whisky available, but also to bring together a select group of like-minded members who share the same values, in order to create the very best ambience within the club.”

Two-hundred-and-fifty new memberships are available. UK membership costs £3,250, which includes unlimited access to the facilities at Ladybank headquarters (subject to availability). Different rates apply for overseas members.
