1. Concept : The idea for creating a small distillery in the Ladybank area began in 2002. There are very few new distilleries in Scotland and the established ones had grown from their farm scale routes to supply spirit for the worlds leading Scotch whisky blends. Re-creating an artisan scale, farm based distillery looked like the route to follow.

2. Background : A disused farm building was found, an architect appointed, and by late 2003 outline permissions granted. It then took until 2006 to complete an agreement with the owners to take a 50 year lease at a site was so picture-perfect it was not for sale. By 2008 all the more intricate planning details where accepted.

3. Design : A brief was taken on by skilled “process” engineers, advised by expert whisky chemists, so that one half of the site could house spirit making equipment while the other was reserved for members to relax when visiting. Meanwhile, from across the world, members signed-up to support the project and now the next chapter can begin.
